At the Store
When you’re shopping, your impact on the environment may not be as easy to assess. Use the card for guidance before a trip to the store and while you’re shopping—whether it’s the grocery store or the farmer’s market.

Sustainable choices in the At the Store sections fall into these categories: produce; meat and dairy; seafood; and waste. Produce recommendations range from buying organics to shopping at farmers markets. Meat and dairy actions include buying hormone-free milk and finding local farmers who can sell meat and eggs directly to you. On the Seafood front we recommend following the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Guide. The waste category suggest ways to reduce your waste footprint: buy recycled products; use a reusable coffee mug; and start a compost pile in your yard.

We hope these ideas help you find sustainability from the grocery store to the dinner table!
